Windows 7 remote desktop change screen resolution

I know that the client defaults to the resolution of the PC that it is running on and wonder if our IT team can remotely change the resolution on the PC for select users? If you wrap it in a script that can "RunAs" it that should allow a non admin to have resolution modified. It may even work as a logon script. Sorry, I wasn't very clear, I want to do basically as dhubbard suggested and that is to set the resolution for a user without having a tech visit the PC, or use a remote connection.

Running the script should do the job. You can also create an RDP connection file with the setting saved in it that you want and then distribute that to your end users to use to connect. I tried this myself by defining a connection and ended up having to connect to the user's computer this morning. Again the remote desktop connection changed the appearance of the user windows so this did not help.

As a workaround, I recommended the shutdown -r command because rebooting the computer sets the view back to normal. Right now I'm working on a batch file so the user will not have to open a command window. In reply to KirkWP's post on November 16, Hi, Thank you for keeping us informed.

Install Windows 7 SP1 with all updates. Verify Remote Desktop ver. See attached image. Set windows client DPI appropriately. That gave us the desired result as far as scaling on the Carbon Thinkpad.

The Thinkpad is operating at resolution of x though Nextgen RDS client window is running in server's default x Stefan Koell said almost 5 years ago.
